This past month, the Open Door Women's Shelter in Washington, NC, held a successful spring fundraiser at Wine Words & Gourmet in the heart of downtown. The event brought together local businesses, supporters, and the community to raise awareness and funds for the shelter's building expansion project.
Sharing Our Vision
During the event, representatives from Open Door Women's Shelter shared their vision for the future and the importance of the building expansion. The project aims to increase the shelter's capacity to provide a safe haven and support for women experiencing homelessness.
Local Vendors Rally to Support
The fundraiser was made possible by the generous contributions of several local vendors who donated a portion of their sales or provided complimentary items for the guests to enjoy.
Barbara Hardy showcased her beautiful jewelry collection and donated a portion of her sales to the shelter.
Petals & Produce offered vibrant tulip bouquets, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Open Door Women's Shelter.
Keyes Catering provided delectable chocolate-covered strawberries for guests to savor at no cost.
Crystal Hardt (Crystalcuterie) graciously offered a complimentary charcuterie tray for attendees.
Main Cup Cafe hosted a complimentary tea tasting, allowing guests to explore a variety of flavors.
Music and Refreshments
Wine & Words went above and beyond by sponsoring the talented musician, Mark Woodland, who entertained guests throughout the evening. The store also sold wine and generously donated their tips to the shelter. In a heartwarming gesture, Mark Woodland also contributed his tips to support Open Door Women's Shelter's cause.
